Vietnam, facing a shortage of 150,000 IT professionals, is aggressively developing its IT sector to achieve its goal of becoming a middle-income country. Could South Korea's IT expertise be a catalyst for Vietnam's growth? South Korea and Vietnam have enjoyed a close relationship for 30 years, and South Korean companies have actively invested in Vietnam. However, simple investment or technology transfer alone may not be enough. Development of training programs for Vietnamese IT professionals and active participation from South Korean IT companies are necessary. In particular, active support from the South Korean government and cooperation from private companies are needed to create synergy for Vietnam's IT workforce development. This will allow Vietnam to become a middle-income country and South Korea to open up new markets.
